From Thursday March 22nd to Saturday 24th March the Nerja Cultural Centre are presenting three evenings of fantastic flamenco shows. All the events begin at 9pm and entry for each is €12

Thursday March 22nd

Malaga Flamenca

The first night of the festival will be a 75 minute tour around the world of flamenco, encompassing many different styles including abandolao and taranto, fandango and buleria. The performers are singers Miguel Angel Fernández y Mamen González; the guitar of Rubén Portillo “Niño Zamora”; percussion of Juanlu Marcelo; the flute of Javier González; and dancers Antonio Guerra, Macarena Álvarez, Cristina Martín and Alicia Martín.

Friday March 23rd

Encuentro

This show was created by the incredibly talented Malaga born dancer and choreographer Rosi de Alva. ‘Encuentro’ was born during a period of Alva’s life when she was reflecting on what it is to be human, of the feelings and emotions that make us alive: joy, saddness, longing, love, dreams, these are all part of being alive. The ‘encounter’ with ourselves and what we are gives us the freedom to live life to the full. Rosi de Alva is the solo dancer who explores this idea in an exchange with the orchestra.

Saturday March 24th

Flamenco Y Arena

The festival ends with the spectacular show ‘Flamenco and Sand’. Compañía Sánchez Cortés is from a long family line of gypsy flamenco artists, all learning their skills from the moment they were learning to walk. Live musicians, singers and dancers will combine for a performance encompassing many styles of flamenco, some danced solo others in groups, but all with passion and emotion. Flamenco y Arena was first performed to a sell out crowd at the Malaga bull ring in July 2011 and tonight Nerja gets to enjoy this amazing event.
