A 25 year old Polish man has gone missing, after falling into the sea from rocks at Torrecilla beach Nerja in the early hours of Wednesday morning. Personnel from the police, fire brigade, coastguard and Protección Civil were called out at 1.30am, alerted by the missing man’s friends who called the emergency number 112. The search operation was hampered by the strong winds and waves and the emergency personnel were unable to find the victim before suspending the search at midday due to the poor conditions.

Initial reports suggest that the young man, on holiday in Nerja with his friends, fell into the sea after jumping down onto the rocks from the promenade. The search is expected to resume once the conditions improve.

The region is currently on yellow alert due to strong wind and waves, with calmer conditions expected in the next 24 hours.

Sadly after an extensive search by air and sea, the body was recovered by the Guardia Civil yesterday afternoon and has been taken to Malaga for an autopsy. The Polish authorities have also been informed.
