December the 28th At The Balcon de Europa Nerja

Now that the summer is over many people start thinking about an autumn or winter break in Nerja, to escape from the harsher Northern European climate. Prices are cheaper, the crowds have gone but the weather is still summer-like – the forecast for the first week of October is daytime temperatures of up to 25°C, so there will be plenty of visitors on the beaches and the bars and restaurants will all still be open.

October is also Feria month (8th to 12th of October), with music, dancing and the fairground open until the very small hours. The Feria takes place in the car park between Los Huertos and Calle Carabeo (near to the Balcon de Europa) – to find it, just follow the vast amount of noise coming from the Feria ground, with every ride competing for attention.

October’s warm weather continues into November (average daytime temperature in November is 20°C), although you can also expect unsettled weather at times, maybe even some much needed rain. The rain storms here are usually short and intense – it can be pouring with rain in the morning, with soggy tourists huddled in cafes or under the arches on the Balcon de Europa, but by the afternoon the sun is back out, drying everyone out again. Evenings can be chilly, so pack some warm clothes as well and an umbrella may well come in useful.
