Over the last few days a bright yellow Canadair CL-215 Fire fighting plane has been doing flypasts along the beaches of Nerja and the Balcon de Europa, taking advantage of the calm conditions to practice scooping and dropping water. In this video, taken on El Salon beach, the plane lands then takes off again, before doing a circuit, collecting and dropping water in front of Torrecilla beach.

The “Scooper” amphibious aircraft can carry up to 5,346 litres of water, scooped up by swooping low over the sea at wave height. 14 of these Canadian made aircraft are in service with the Spanish authorities.
