This Sunday 2nd of October, a group of volunteer divers from all over Spain will carry out their annual clean-up of the sea bed along the beaches from Playazo in the west to Maro in the east.
The divers will split into three groups along the coast, and with the aid of volunteers on the beach, the rubbish that is collected will be put into a container on Burriana beach.
In the first year (2005) that this clean-up was undertaken, over 500kgs of rubbish was collected by the divers. Last year less than 50kgs were taken away, demonstrating how much cleaner the sea bed has become in the intervening 7 years.
