What is probably the last remaining footbridge over the Rio Chillar in Nerja (just past the N340 road bridge), has been blocked off with barriers after the handrail and some of the planking broke away, making it unsafe to use.
Pedestrians now have to wade across the river, which is still flowing strongly despite the low rainfall this winter.
The footbridge at the bottom of the Rio Chillar was washed away a few years ago and has only recently been replaced with the temporary gravel crossing.
It remains to be seen when, if ever, this latest footbridge to fall apart is repaired.
