On Sunday the Nerja Athletics club held the 27th “Trofeo de Marcha” (5km walking race) and the 55th “Carrera Urbana” (8Km running) races which took place around the streets of Nerja, starting and ending at the Balcon de Europa. A record number of entrants took part in the events, which included junior races, and they are the oldest of their kind in the province of Málaga, watched by a crowd of thousands more.
The Carrera Urbana was won by Javier Diaz Carretero in a time of 23 minutes 14 seconds.
The Trofeo de Marcha was won by Luis Albert Amezcua Balboa in a time of 21 minutes 47 seconds.
