Nerja Ayuntamiento claim that the rate of council tax (IBI) in Nerja is one of the lowest in the province of Malaga. According to the Councillor of Finance, Antonio Villasclaras ‘Only small municipalities such as Pizarra, Sayalonga, Villanueva del Trabuco and Villanueva de Tapia, have a somewhat lower rate than ours, whereas all coastal municipalities and even the majority of municipalities with more than 10,000 people apply a tax rate well above ours’ he said.
Villasclaras also said that neighbouring municipalities including Frigiliana and Torrox have rates higher than Nerja and that ‘these places also apply fees for rubbish collection, in the case of Frigiliana of about €120 per year”.
