Easter in Nerja 2012 takes place from Palm Sunday (which this year falls on the 1st of April) and lasts until the Sunday of the following week (Sunday the 8th) and will be marked by the usual series of processions around the streets of the town (Semana Santa processions). The first procession is on Palm Sunday, followed by more on Wednesday evening, Thursday and Friday night and Sunday morning.
The routes of the marches are similar, though all start and end at the El Salvador church on the Balcon. Full details of the processions will be on our Semana Santa page.
Easter marks the start of the new holiday season for Nerja, with a lot of effort being put in to make sure that refurbishment work is completed on the bars and restaurants that have closed over the winter months, plus the council gets the beaches ready, reparing any damage that might have been done in March storms, in time for the influx of holidaymakers.
Traditionally April daytime temperatures average 22°C, which makes perfect beach weather.
