Political banners have gone up around Nerja as campaigning gets underway for the Andalucian Elections to be held on March 25th. Opinion polls show that the Partido Popular (PP) have a clear lead over the incumbent PSOE party, led by Jose Antonio Griñán. The PSOE have been in charge in Andalucia for the past 30 years (since the beginning of post-Franco democracy in Spain). If the PP were to win the Andalucian elections, the PP would then be in control all the way from the national government in Madrid down to the local town hall here in Nerja.
