The Coral Alminares choir from Nerja celebrated the 29th anniversary of their formation at the Nerja caves. The president of the choir, Juan Luis Medina, gave a record of their performances in 2012 to Nerja’s councillor for Education and Culture Gema García. He described the year as being “splendid” including appearances in Edinburgh, in Marmolejo and the Christmas Concert at the Cathedral of Malaga, organised by Manos Unidas, amongst others. Juan Luis Medina also thanked Nerja council for their co-operation.
Gema Garcia congratulated the choir saying that “we should be proud to have a group like this, a cultural landmark that is a credit to Nerja wherever it goes”.
As is traditional, the members of the choir then performed “Señor, me cansa la vida”, by Antonio Machado, with music by Juan Alfonso García, conducted by José Eugenio Vicente Téllez.
La Coral Alminares perform regularly throughout the year in Nerja and are certainly worth going to see if you have the opportunity.
