The Nerja Cave’s ticket office has been burgled for the second time in six months, this time losing around €31,000 in cash that was collected from ticket sales.

When office staff arrived at 8am on Monday to start their working day, they discovered that the window bars on the ticket office had been forced apart and two safes inside the office were found open and empty.

The break in occurred sometime between Sunday and Monday morning. Forensic police have been on the scene collecting fingerprints and other evidence.

In January of this year a similar break in occurred, with between €45,000 and €50,000 going missing when three safes were opened.

It is not known whether the Nerja Caves authorities are considering installing additional security measures, with the two thefts totally around €80,000.
