The 53rd Nerja Caves Festival got underway last night with a performance by the Salzburger Chamber Solisten of “Picasso, la música de su tiempo” (Picasso, the music of his time).

The Caves Festival runs until Sunday 22nd of July. Tonight (Wednesday 18th) the flamenco show Antonio El Pipa and Lola Greco will be on, followed by the Baroque Orchestra of Seville, on the 19th , the Great Russian Ballet Gala, on the 20th; Pasión Vega in concert, on the 21st and Comediants on the 22nd, who will be bringing the festival to a close with the musical Persephone in the Caves. This company will also perform before each show every day of the festival. All performances are at 10pm.

Some tickets for the festival are still available to purchase from cuevadenerja.es. They are also available to be bought in person at the Nerja Museum in Plaza España (near to the Balcon de Europa). This year also marks a welcome new innovation from the Caves management, who will be putting a youtube video online daily, showing highlights of the previous nights performance. Last night’s performance from the Salzburger Chamber Solisten is shown below.
