Nerja’s athletics club Cueva de Nerja-UMA won a total of 42 medals in this weekends Andalucian Championships held on Saturday at the sports stadium. The athletes won 14 gold medals, 17 silver and 11 bronze in the hotly contested championships.
Gold medals were won by Lorena Aguilar, Jose Heredia, Manuel Florido, Maribel Perez in the 100m, Eugenia Galan in the 5000m, Virginia Martin, Marta Casanova in the pole vault, Carolina Sánchez in the hammer throw, Jesús Brenes in the 5000m, Juan Carlos Moreno in the 400m hurdles, Miguel Marin in the long jump, Pedro Redondo in the hammer throw and Fancisco López in the javelin, which also earned him the new club record.
The silver medals went to Ruben Sánchez in 100m and 200m, Alvaro Fernández in 1500m, Ossama Rmidi in 3000m, Carlos Martin in the long jump, Francisco Espartero in the javelin, Jose Heredia in the discus, Pilar Cortacero in 100m and 200m, Inma Cantero in the 800m, Maria Jose Redaño in 5000m, Desire Valderrama in 100m hurdles, Candela Guijarro in the high jump, Isabel Robles in the triple jump, Cristina Benavides, Maria Jose Gomez in discus and Alba Sánchez in the javelin.
The bronzes were won by Fernando Perez in the 100m, Raul Navarro in the 110 hurdles, Guillermo Roldan in high jump, Carlos Martin in the triple jump, Angel Antequera in the hammer, Sergio Sánchez in the javelin event, Araceli López in 200m, Maria Serrano in 1500m, Yesenia Cortes in 400m hurdles ,Maria Jose Gomez and Alba Sánchez in discus.
