Nerja council have announced that their proposal for a new cycle path to be built between Nerja and Maro has been selected to go forward by the Malaga Development department.
The proposal, that has been a year in the making, was put to the department in October as part of their Ciudad Amable (Friendly Town) programme, in which a total of 43 municipalities took part. Nerja’s proposal was among 14 submitted at a meeting held in Malaga.
The Nerja-Maro project was one of only five that will be developed in Malaga province. The project will now be taken forward by the Infrastructure department at Nerja council working with the Development department in Malaga. No dates have been released as to when the council expects that work could start.
The “Friendly Town” initiative is being organised by the government with the objective of “breaking new ground in policy interventions in public spaces by the administrations.”. According to Nerja’s infrastructure councillor Antonio García, this project forms part of the council’s policy of sustainable development.
