Nerja’s councillor for popular tradition, Sandra Jimena, has unveiled the poster for this year’s San Isidro festival, that takes place on the 14th and 15th of May. The events start on the night of the 14th in the grounds of the Nerja Caves with music in the Caseta Oficial.
On Thursday the 15th at 11am there will be mass at the church on the Balcon de Europa with the Coro Rociero choir and an offering of fruits.
At midday the choir will perform in the doorway of the church marking the start of the “Romería”, the parade of horses, carts and oxen, which carries on up to the caves, arriving at around 2pm at the Ermita of San Isidro (in the grounds of the caves). This will be accompanied by performances by “Agrupación Folclórica Municipal de Coros y Danzas de Maro y Nerja”.
From 3.30pm there will be performances by Nuevo Compás and Alalba and the party will continue until late in the night.
