Tonight (Saturday 21st January) will be an exciting night at the Nerja Cultural Centre.  A chance to see an original blues band playing their own compositions.  Tickets are €10 and are limited so you are advised to buy in advance from the ticket office.  The gig starts at 9pm.

Scotch ‘n’ Soda are a hard working Belgian blues, jazz, boogie ‘n’ roll band led by Ilias Scotch a young singer and piano player who lives for his music and whose roots lie deep in the blues and boogie-woogie. His band’s music however encompasses many genres and is very difficult to label. It’s too jazzy and free to just call it the blues, but it’s also too pure and stubborn to label it “jazz”. In fact anything interesting that’s been done in pop music over the last 80 years has a chance of appearing on the Scotch ‘n’ Soda set list, as long as it swings, rocks or grooves in a nasty manner.

Scotch ‘n’ Soda actually grew from a very open minded group of jazz- and blues musicians who had given many concerts together in changing line-ups. Out of pure enthusiasm for the music that was played a “more serious” concept was called for. Ilias and his friends started working on a brand new set of music. The result is a mature blues and rock ‘n’ roll show in which music-lovers will discover influences of jazz, country, ska, pop, soul, funk, latin etc…

Always and for everybody Scotch ‘n’ Soda brings this atmosphere of a good old swinging night out you wouldn’t want to miss out on
