Setting up is underway for tonight’s New Years Eve party on the Balcon de Europa. The party starts at 11pm with live music and there will be a bar (picture left). You can also bring your own Champagne and don’t forget the grapes to eat at Midnight.
Most bars and restaurants will take a break around midnight, so that people can congregate on the Balcon de Europa to celebrate the New Year. The party will go on into the small hours, even more so at Plaza Tutti Frutti.
Christmas in Nerja carries on into the New Year, with the Three Kings still to come on the 6th January (Los Reyes). This is the day that the Three Kings arrived in Bethlehem, it is also the most important day for the children as the Three Kings in effect replace Father Christmas for Spanish children (although Santa is becoming popular). There will be a parade through the streets on the 5th of January starting at 5pm from Verano Azul park and ending at the Balcon, with the Three Kings throwing sweets to the crowds.
The Royal Postman will be collecting letters for the Three Kings on the 3rd of January at the Balcon at 5pm and handing out gifts and sweets to the children.
