This event has been cancelled due to the risk from the heavy rain fall.
Nerja council have organised, in collaboration with the Civil Protection, the Second Rio Chillar Clean-Up Day to be held on Sunday the 30th of September 2012.

When this event was held last year, the volunteers collected around 800kgs of rubbish from this popular walk.

The participants will meet at 8.30am at the new car park on Calle Mirto (the street above the Sunday market) and can choose from two routes, with different levels of difficulty.

For the more difficult route, the volunteers will be transferred to a starting point higher up the river by vehicle and they should be physically fit due to the distance and terrain to be covered.

The other route is considered to be of medium difficulty and those involved can turn around when they want and return to the starting point (the car park). Children can take part in this route.

The head of Civil Protection, Manuel Valderrama, has said that the participants should wear comfortable and durable shoes that can withstand getting wet, as the walk involves wading in the shallow river itself. Participants should also wear hats and bring water and some food.

The organisors will provide rubbish bags and gloves to participants, as well as a t-shirt.
