A full house at the Enrique López Cuenca stadium last night saw Xerez beat Malaga 5-4 on penalties to win the 11th memorial game for Mateo David Bautista.

Malaga included several first team players in their starting eleven, including striker Rondón and keeper Rubén but it was the second division side Xerez who created the best scoring chances, particularly in the second half, and the Malaga keeper deservedly won the man of the match award for some excellent one on one saves.  The best moment of the match was a flying one handed save by Rubén to deny a 25 yard screamer from Xerez player Vélez.

With a 0-0 score at full time the match was decided by penalties.  Substitute Xerez keeper Iván saved Malaga’s frist kick and with all 9 subsequent penalties being scored the victory went to the second division side.  The father of Mateo Bautista, Matthew, presented the trophy to the winning team.
