There is an exhibition in Nerja from June 10th until June 30th entitled ‘Cal y Mar’ . The exhibition name derives from two things that are so important to Nerja: the sea, and the whitewashed houses (cal means lime in Spanish, and that is a vital ingredient in the whitewash).
Model makers Antonio Hernández and Miguel Roman will be displaying their hand built models of more than 20 boats of different types and different eras; galleons, aircraft carriers, tug boats and many more. The exhibition also displays the process of making model boats, with step by step guides from the skeleton to the finsished work.
In addition to the boats the artists will be showing their models of some of Nerja’s prominent landmarks, including the Balcon de Europa and the Puente de el Aguila.
You can visit this fascinating exhibition at the Nerja Sala Municipal de Exposiciones in Calle Cristo between 12 and 2pm and 8 to 10pm.
