Nerja Day Against Gender ViolenceThis year’s International Day For The Elimination Of Violence Against Women (in Spanish “El día contra la violencia de género”) will take place on Sunday the 25th of November 2012 with various events around the town.

The events start at 12:45pm in the council offices when a statement will be read out rejecting institutional gender violence. At 1pm there will be a public assembly on the Balcon de Europa to pay respects to the women killed by domestic violence this year.

At 6pm in the Nerja Cultural Centre there will be a play “Las atacadas” (The Attacked) by the Maria Zambrano theatre company. The play uses comedy to address the issue of gender violence and admission is free (until all seats are taken).
