Nerja will be celebrating International Youth Day on Sunday August the 12th.
The events will take place in Plaza Cangrejos (near to Torrecilla beach) and will start at seven in the evening. There will be several youth workshops to show the various activities carried out by the Nerja Youth Information Centre and the Movida Centre. There will also be a bazaar and a massage studio.
From ten pm there will be live performances from local young people, including salsa, flamenco, funk, belly dancing and much more. The aim is to show the wealth of artistic talent of the youth of Nerja.
The International Youth Day is a worldwide event promoted by the United Nations and is commemorated every year on the 12th of August.
The Programme on Youth selects a theme for the day in consultation with youth organizations, the Department of Public Information and other UN system offices and agencies. It also organises a commemoration of the Day at United Nations Headquarters in New York.
The Programme encourages youth around the world to organise activities to raise awareness about the situation of youth in their country.
