In a bid to enforce the rules regarding the amount of pavement space businesses can use in Nerja, the town council have instructed the local police to crack down on proprietors who have their merchandise on display outside of their allocated area. On Thursday the police seized goods that a clothes shop on Pintada had on display in the street which were outside of the white lines that mark the allowed area.

The business owner will now have to pay a fine to recover the goods. The council is acting after apparently receiving many complaints that businesses were hampering the flow of pedestrians and vehicle traffic on the streets in this way.
