Nerja council are set to approve a motion by the Mayor and the Councillor for Employment and Social Welfare, to demand that the regional government of Andalucia (the Junta) pay the money that they owe to the Centro Taller de la Amistad. The centre provides education, training, leisure and other services for disabled residents of Nerja from all age groups.

The Junta owes more than €160,000 to the centre, in payments that date back to 2009. The centre is likely to have to close unless this money is forthcoming.
