Around 50 people took part in this year’s Rio Chillar Clean-Up Day which was held on Sunday, organised by Nerja council along with the Civil Protection and the Environment and Cleaning departments.
This initiative aims not only to clean up this very popular attraction, but also to raise awareness of the need for hikers to conserve the natural environment for everyone’s enjoyment.
In total, 30 bags of rubbish were collected, which were taken away by vehicles from the cleaning department.
Participants had the choice of two different routes, one easy and the other further up the river, with children taking part in the easier route.
The Rio Chillar walk is very popular during the summer months, with a new car park having been opened this year near to the start of the walk, with a limited number of spaces.
