Two people were rescued last night by the coast guard helicopter after their boat sank 40 miles off the coast of Torrox .
A friend of the victims called the emergency services at 8.20pm on Sunday night, to report that their 21 foot boat was sinking and that they needed help urgently. The emergency services were mobilised, including the police, coast guard and health services.
The crew of the boat were found in the water clinging to a buoy and part of the sunken boat. They were rescued by helicopter and taken to Malaga airport. Both were reported to be in good health, with one of them having mild symptoms of hypothermia.
The cause of the sinking is not known at this time.
