MaroNerja Council are proposing that a new cycle path be developed between the town and Maro. The proposal was made to the regional government as part of their “Ciudad Amable” (Friendly Town) programme, in which a total of 43 municipalities are taking part. Nerja’s proposal was among 14 submitted at a meeting held in Malaga.

The project was presented by the Councillor for Infrastructure, Antonio Garcia along with specialists from the council and was well received, according to the councillor.

The various proposals will now be evaluated by the regional government before decisions are taken as to which projects will get the green light to continue, along with the necessary finance.

The “Friendly Town” initiative is being organised by the government with the objective of “breaking new ground in policy interventions in public spaces by the administrations.”
