Last night’s Fiesta Blanca at Torrecilla beach, was unexpectedly cancelled due to the adverse conditions. Strong waves were reaching up the beach to the stage area, making it impossible to go ahead with the show.
The stage had been set up at the western end of Torrecilla beach (near to the ruined watchtower), on the narrow strip of sand that is often all that remains at this end of the beach. During the day the waves built up, until the area around the stage was being swamped, causing the cancellation.
In previous years Fiesta Blanca has been held at El Salon beach, with the stage located at the back of the beach away from the sea shore.
The cancellation left hundreds of people dressed in white wandering the streets of Nerja.
