On Monday the 12th of August, 2013, Nerja will be celebrating International Youth Day with a series of events at Plaza Cangrejos (near to Torrecilla beach) starting at 8pm with various workshops. There will be musical performances starting at 9pm and also a market.
The poster for the event was created by Laura Moreno Fernández, winner of the design competition organised by the Youth department at the council.
The International Youth Day is a worldwide event promoted by the United Nations and is commemorated every year on the 12th of August.
The Programme on Youth selects a theme for the day in consultation with youth organizations, the Department of Public Information and other UN system offices and agencies. It also organises a commemoration of the Day at United Nations Headquarters in New York.
The Programme encourages youth around the world to organise activities to raise awareness about the situation of youth in their country.
