The 650km long hiking path La Gran Senda-Ruta de las Tres Culturas (The Great Trail Of The Three Cultures) will open its first 420km section from Nerja to Benalauría in the west of the county, in November. The project, which combines the environment, tourism and sport, is the brainchild of Malaga County Council who plan to have the full route open in early 2014.
According to the President of the council Elías Bendodo, the route may open earlier than November and is composed of seven sections including three river basins. The route will be clearly marked and georeferenced.
Benalauría itself is a small whitewashed village in the Ronda Mountains, surrounded by forests, offering many outdoor leisure activities, such as hiking.
