A 50 year old Polish man was rescued this afternoon after falling last night from cliffs near to the beach at La Caleta de Maro, in the area known as Huerto Romero.
Members of the fire brigade, local police and Guardia Civil took part in the rescue of the man, who was described as being in a serious condition.
The victim was initially treated at the health centre in Nerja, before being taken to the regional hospital in Velez-Malaga.
The alarm was raised at 3pm this afternoon by the man’s friends, who live close to the scene of the accident and farm the land there.
The area where the rescue took place is very difficult to access and is often used by fishermen.
