Nerja council have approved a motion to request that the regional government of Andalucia give the council the “casa de peones camineros” (pictured) in calle San Miguel in Maro so that they can open a tourist information office there. The council first made this request two years ago and claim that they have not had a response in that time.

The plan would be to open a tourist information office for the town itself and the Acantilados de Maro natural park as part of their tourism development strategy for Maro.

Nieves Atencia, the councillor for urban planning, says that the building is perfectly located, being at the entrance to the town and close to the footbridge over to the Nerja Caves.
