A motion has been presented at a meeting of Malaga County Council to ask the regional government, the Junta de Andalucia, to move forward with the procedures for the new marina that is planned on the Nerja/Torrox border.
The motion calls for the Ports Agency to get on with the project without waiting for the ports master plan to be released, which could delay the project until 2020. The Junta de Andalucia has had responsibility for planning the new marina since 1983.
The current outline proposals are for the new marina to have 400 berths, a slipway and shopping and leisure facilities in a location 320 meters west of the mouth of the Frontiles creek, between Wilches and Calaceite beaches in Torrox.
