Over the past few days a white van with loudspeakers blaring out an excited sales pitch for bargain priced potatoes, has been cruising the streets of Nerja, blatantly flouting the rules on mobile sales. Nerja police intervened on Calle Pintada in the town centre, stopping the vehicle which was discovered to be carrying 23 sacks of potatoes.
The driver of the vehicle had a sales receipt for the potatoes, so they were not seized during the police operation, being believed to be of legitimate origin.
The potato salesman, from Utrera in Seville, has been warned that mobile sales of this type along with loudspeaker announcements are prohibited in Nerja under local bylaws.
