The new underground car park at Burriana is moving nearer to completion and is expected to be open before the summer. The €2.6m project got underway in May 2013 with a forecast completion time of 18 months. The car park is on three levels and will have capacity for 240 cars. The site for the new structure was an empty parcel of land, which was used for parking in the summer months, just off one of the access roads to Burriana and a few minutes walk to the beach.
The new car park will be the fourth public car park to be built in Nerja, the others being the underground car parks at the Balcon de Europa, with 733 spaces, Verano Azul park with 273 spaces and the public pool car park, with 70 spaces. There is also the privately owned car park at Los Huertos. The new car park will be imaginatively named “Aparcamiento Municipal Burriana” or Burriana Municipal Car Park in English and will also have a new a tourist information office.
The additional parking spaces will help ease the chronic congestion in Burriana during the summer months, although visitors will no doubt still have to arrive early to find a parking space.
