From today, Friday, the new car park at El Playazo beach comes into operation in time for the summer season. The new car park has space for 300 cars and is accessed directly from the main road that runs from Nerja to Torrox at the western end of the beach.
The councillor for beaches Nieves Atencia has asked the users of the beach to leave their cars in the car park, rather than park them on the beach road itself. The Costas department have been threatening to close the beach road due to the number of vehicles using it and ignoring the parking restrictions, including parking on the beach itself.
The new car park is on the site of the motorhome park which was closed down several years ago due to not having the correct license in place.
