The people of Nerja have come to the rescue of Olivia, the two year old dog who was run over, breaking her hip and femur, less than two weeks ago in the town. The driver of the car took Olivia to San Fernando vets (Expedito’s) and paid for her to be x-rayed and given immediate treatment. Olivia needed an operation to reset the bones which would normally cost in the region of €800, but the specialist, Ariel Saravia from Fuengirola, agreed to do the operation for half that price to cover his costs. To raise the money the vets started a facebook campaign and the money was raised within three days, with the help of Radio Juventud and chiringuito Pepe Mesa.

Olivia has now been operated on and is doing well, recuperating in the home of Vanesa Sánchez, a friend of an employee at San Fernando’s. They are now looking for a permanent home for Olivia, who will be chipped and sterilised before adoption. Olivia is described as having an affectionate nature and is recovering well from her injuries.

Veterinaria San Fernando is on the corner of Calle Chaparil and Calle Antonio Millon, near to Rasters Rastro in Nerja (see map below).
