Despite the changeable weather, with rain interrupting the prize giving ceremony, a record total of 2,374 people took part in this year’s Dia del Pedal held on Thursday. This annual event has been held without a break for 25 years.

The trophy for the oldest rider went to Joaquin Alonso Gonzalez, at 80 years of age, and trophies for the most original bikes went to Garaje Cereto and Joaquín Alonso González. Every entrant received a Dia del Pedal t-shirt and also Coke and crisps at the end of the ride.

Prizes in the form of bicycles and scooters were raffled at the end of the event. The prize in the raffle for the Taller de Amistad went unclaimed and the holder of ticket number 866 can claim their bike at the Taller de Amistad’s premises.

The events organisers received plaques of appreciation to commemorate 25 years of Dia del Pedal followed by a performance of “Happy Birthday” by the crowd.

The winners were: Hotel Balcon de Europa, Café-Gelato Tropisol, Cafe Cavana, Lions Club, Antonio Ortega (Ingenio Moto Bike), Antonio Cereto (Garage Cereto), Verano Azul Travel, Plácido Portillo (Paviser) Coca Cola, Matutano , Info Nerja, Nerja TV, Youth Radio Diario Sur, strip mall, Costa del Sol Bakery, Optical Chaves, Nerja Cave Foundation, Local Police and Civil Protection.
