Calahonda Beach Nerja EasterAfter seven months of restrictions, Spain’s State of Alarm has ended (midnight 8th/9th of May 2021) allowing life to continue to slowly return to normal. In Nerja the opening hours of bars and restaurants will be extended to midnight (groups of up to 8 people inside and 10 outside) and discos can now open up until 2am with no curfew.
Shops, theatres and cinemas continue to be open.

Travel is allowed again anywhere in Spain (previously we were restricted to our own town/province/region according to infection levels and prevalent rules). Individual towns can still be restricted if they have high infection rates. Visitors from other EU countries can continue to come to Spain with a negative PCR test. Tourist visits are not allowed from most non-EU countries (to be reviewed at the end of May).

Social distancing rules will still apply on the beaches and mask wearing is still compulsory in public places, except when exercising (jogging/cycling etc), eating, drinking or sitting on the beach. The rules are set to change again at the end of May if conditions permit.

The above is a summary of the most important rules currently in place in Andalucia (other regions may have different rules) and are subject to change at any time.
