The weather in Nerja at this time of year is normally perfect for a long walk and this Sunday the Sierra Almijara walking association are organising a trip to the summit of Pico Del Cielo, the highest peak in the Sierra Tejeda, Almijara and Alhama range.
The route is strenuous and requires you to be reasonably fit, and for those who take the challenge the rewards are magnificent with views of all the mountains in the range below, the coast and even North Africa on a clear day.
Non members are welcome to join the walk but are asked to pay a €2 fee to cover costs. Anyone interested should meet at the Nerja bus station at 8.30am where you will be driven to the start point. Be prepared for any weather and wear strong shoes and bring refreshments.
The walk is approximately 13km long and takes about 7 hours.
