UPDATE: Spring 2015. Papagayos is not going to reopen this year, after their winter break. The owner of the property has agreed to sell the building and land to Nerja council, who are planning to demolish the building and extend the beach in its place.

Papagayos beach bar and restaurant is right on the small beach Playa Calahonda next to the Balcon de Europa in Nerja. The bar is closed during the winter months, but is very popular during the summer - you need to get there early to get a table at lunchtimes. Papagayos also has live music on most weekends during the summer.

The restaurant has plenty of outside space, both on its front terrace and also around the side in the welcome shade of the large fig trees in front. There are smaller areas at the back, further up the hill and a inside bar area. Papagayos enjoys unmatched views over Calahonda beach towards the Mediterranean and is a great place to visit for a drink or a meal.

Prices are reasonable for the location and the small menu has something that should suit most people, including goats cheese salad, chicken fingers in breadcrumbs and sandwiches.
