Nerja’s councillor for Infrastructure, Antonio García, has announced that the council are going to build three new crossings on the Rio Seco in Nerja. The river runs down the valley at the western end of Nerja, emerging on El Playazo next to the Marinas de Nerja hotel and despite its name (Dry River) often flows strongly in the winter months, making crossing the river difficult for residents and farmers in the area.

Once the engineers have released their report the council will award the contract for the work to Tragsa at a cost of more than €80,000, which also includes improvement works on the country roads around the Rio de la Miel to the east of Nerja.

The work will begin within a few weeks and is part of the programme Encamina 2 by the Agriculture department. Councillor García says that the improvement work has been long-awaited by the council and the local residents from the area and emphasised its importance to both the agriculture and tourism sectors.
