Two months ago today Nerja, and this part of Andalucia, was hit by a huge rain storm causing flooding and damage in the town and throughout the region. A total of 2 inches (54mm) of fain fell overnight, and was at its heaviest at 7am.
At Burriana the rivers down to the beach flooded washing away part of the promenade at the western end of the beach and damaging the footbridge. The beach itself was washed away in places and there were piles of bamboo driftwood and rubbish at the waterline and out to sea.
In other parts of Nerja, drain covers were blown off with the strength of the storm water and there were reports of some flooding in basements and cortijos near to the Rio Chillar.
