Sardines being barbecued on the petanque courts at Plaza Cangrejos in Nerja on the last day of this year’s Virgen del Carmen celebrations. Normally this “moraga” is held on the day before the procession, but this year, at the request of the people who take part in the procession, it has been moved to the day after, to allow those normally too busy with the preparations, to take part.
The queue for the plates of free sardines went across the square and out towards the steps down to Torrecilla beach. There was also music and a bar serving drinks for just €1 to go with the sardines.
