Various voluntary environment groups are taking part in an environmental awareness campaign on the beaches of the Maro Cerro-Gordo natural park, just to the east of Nerja. The campaign is designed to highlight the rich natural heritage of the Andalucian coast and the importance of its conservation.
Activities will take place on Saturday the 13th of July at Marina del Este and on Sunday the 14th at Maro beach. Kayaks and snorkels will be provided free of charge to beach goers to explore the coastline. These events have also been held at Cantarriján and Canuelo beaches.
The programme is funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and aims to promote sustainable management of natural resources whilst encouraging new economic development.
