Taking advantage of the calm October weather, ‘Optimist of London’ is pictured here just off the beach at Maro on October the 23rd 2012, whilst the guests are shuttled in the tender to take a closer look at the waterfall.
Optimist is a 45 foot yacht that is available for day trips from the Marina del Este, which is the small marina around 20 minutes drive from Nerja.
The Maro-Cerro Gordo natural park lies between Nerja and La Herradura and this unspoilt coastline can be explored by car (take the coast road out of Nerja towards Maro and carry on the winding coastal road). There are various parking places, where you can leave the car (make sure you do not leave any valuables/sat navs on display) and walk down to the beach – although the walks can be anything from 10 minutes to half an hour depending on which beach you choose.
You can carry on all the way to La Herradura and you will find the Marina del Este the other side of the headland. There are a couple of restaurants where you can stop for lunch or a just a drink and you can have a wander around the Marina, looking at all the expensive boats, including the ‘Optimist of London’.
