The Nerja and Frigiliana area is a fantastic place to go walking and hiking, with rugged mountains, fast running rivers, deep gorges, white washed villages and stunning scenery all within a short distance of Nerja.

Organised walks leave most mornings from Nerja's Plaza Cantarero at 9.30am (also known as Orange Tree square, at the top of Calle Pintada and Calle Cristo near to the bus station) with qualified walking guide John Keo.

The walks have various itineraries, including the villages at Acebuchal and Frigiliana, the Nerja Caves and further afield. John Keo is a qualified hiking guide, registered with the Junta de Andalucia (the regional government) and is fully licensed and insured. Originally from Ireland, he now lives in Frigiliana with his partner Christine and he has over twenty years of hillwalking experience.

As well as the individual day walks, John also offers an annual "Mountain Pass" for just €120 for 10 hikes. This gives regular hikers the opportunity to join him on any of his walks and hikes (unless otherwise stated) for a year.
