Cudeca was founded in 1991 by Joan Hunt with the following aim:

To care, relieve, accompany and offer the specialist care that is involved in treating patients resident in the province of Málaga, who are suffering from advanced or terminal cancer, which includes giving support and comfort to their family.

Founded in 1992, Cudeca has had remarkable success and in 2002 opened a purpose built Day Care Centre and Out-Patient unit in Arroyo De La Miel, and in 2005 this was followed by a 15 bed In-Patient Unit.

All the services provided by Cudeca are free and as a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) and non profit making, it depends almost entirely on the support of the community for its finances, via donations, legacies, fundraising events, sponsorship and income from their shops.

Charity Shops

Cudeca has several shops on the Costa Del Sol selling second hand clothes and books and there is one in Nerja itself.  It is located at Calle Almirante Carranza 15 (see map below).  There is a bigger shop in Torre Del Mar which also sells furniture.  The shops are always looking for donations of clothes, books and other items, including furniture, so don’t throw anything away that is in good condition if you think someone else might want it.  Furniture donations can be collected from your home.

Nerja opening times are 10 – 1.30pm Mon – Sat

Torre Del Mar 10-1.30pm and 5.30pm-8pm Mon – Fri   10-1.30 Sat

Drop in Centre in Nerja

Cudeca make use of the Nerja Lions club at Calle Granada 45 to provide a drop in centre for anyone who needs to discuss any issue relating to cancer with one of the trained counsellors.  The drop in centre is open from 10am to 1pm every 2nd and 4th Friday of each month.  You can also receive counselling by phone by ringing 952564910
