Preparations For Fiesta Blanca 2012
The saxophonist Daniel Vikario will also be performing live and there will also be go go dancers, stilt walkers, alcohol free cocktails and a free prize draw.
Last year’s event was due to be held on Torrecilla Beach and five DJs were due to perform: Kike Puentes, Emilio González, William, Koty Jiménez and Xarly Brown and there will be prizes and alcohol-free cocktails on offer. However, due to large waves the event was cancelled at the last minute (see photo) – back to the drawing board for Nerja Council, who had moved the popular event from El Salon beach and set the stage up at the western end of Torrecilla, close to the sea.
The Fiesta Blanca has been taking place in Nerja for the past six years on El Salon beach (next to the Balcon de Europa) and 2013 was the first year it was planned for Torrecilla. The party starts in the evening and goes on until the small hours, with live music and DJs performing on a specially constructed stage on the beach. The footpath down to the beach is lined with candles and everyone who goes are encouraged to dress in white, to match the spirit of Fiesta Blanca, which means White Party in English.
